First Swarm of 2013

I have just returned from collecting the first swarm of the season for a beekeeping friend.  The call came as a surprise as I was not expecting any swarms until the first week of June.  The bees are dark and originate from a feral colony that occupied a hole in a house wall for many years.  More details here.

    Well done! Mine swarmed on Sunday, quite late for mine who are usually April swarmers. I got some great pictures of gorgeous queen bees 🙂
